This is the day that Cedric and Isla arrived. They were included in a large job lot of vintage dolls’ house furniture I’d won in an eBay auction. My first Grecons had arrived and life would never be the same again.

It soon transpired that the couple had only been married a short while.  Cedric had been content as a widow for a few years before they met, since his first wife Sylvia had been quite a harridan.  Isla, who is considerably younger than Cedric, having learned of his wealth, lost no time in winning Cedric over and securing her place as wife number two.

However, despite Cedric’s willing disposition and best attempts to make her happy, Isla is and probably always will be, a discontented soul.

It began when Isla expressed a desire to become an actress. Cedric obligingly rented them a Marx Colonial tin house in the Hollywood hills but sadly, Isla’s dreams were soon dashed when she failed her first screen test dismally.  Not one to take rejection well, she and her kind-hearted husband returned to Grecondale and never spoke of the matter again.
